The most beautiful scenery of a city is often hidden in its alleys. Wander through the winding lanes of Anping in Tainan, step onto the gravel path paved with old wooden planks, and you’ll find a century-old house full of stories here—like your grandparents back home—quietly welcoming visitors.

“Strolling Through the Alleys” is a wooden house transformed from a century-old brick-and-tile building nestled in a lane in Anping. It retains the original red door and the dragon-patterned red bricks of the old house. The owner writes on the official website: “This is a century-old house in Anping, Tainan. A hundred years later, I will accompany it in continuing the emotions and stories here, and travelers will also come to keep it company, listening to its stories. In the future, its memories will include the time we spent together. I hope travelers will cherish everything here.” With this belief, the owner spent half a year carefully crafting every brick and tile. The rustic red brick walls paired with the warm feel of wooden furniture give guests a sense of returning to their “hometown.”

The guesthouse has two rooms in total: a double room and a larger room that can accommodate 4–6 people. The rooms mostly feature a minimalist design style. The owner has minimized partitions in the design to make the space feel more open, leaving more blank space for imagination. For example, the Japanese-style room by the window is a cozy corner where guests can happily spend an entire afternoon, even without going out, enjoying reading or simply daydreaming.
