Romantic Qixi Festival Valentine’s Day Events Across Taiwan

The annual romantic Qixi Festival falls on August 20, with various Valentine’s Day events taking place around Taiwan for everyone to enjoy. In the northern region, aside from the Dadaocheng Music Valentine’s Day event being postponed due to a typhoon, there are still other activities such as those organized by the North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area, including “Love in the Happy North Coast.” In Tainan, an entire month-long Qixi Carnival is launched throughout August, while in the eastern region of Yilan, you can join the Magpie Bridge Lantern Festival. As for outlying islands, there’s the dazzling Penghu Fireworks Festival inviting couples to celebrate a romantic holiday together.

◎ North Coast “Love in the Happy North Coast””

The North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area has successively held events such as the “North Coast Sea Listening Music Festival – Yehliu Night” and “Tying the Knot at Yehliu – A Wedding Blessed by the Queen” starting from August 8. It marked the first wedding ever held at Yehliu Geopark. Following that is the “Fate Sealed at Fugui Cape – A Walk Towards Prosperity” on August 29, coinciding with the opening of the Fugui Cape Lighthouse and the official launch of the North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area’s Fugui Cape Art Camp. On that day, a hiking activity is planned, and you can register online to join a free DIY kite painting session before participating in the “Fugui Cape Lighthouse Opening to the Public Event.” In November, Keelung’s Lover’s Lake will greet the public with a newly renovated look, and the “Love Sealed at Lover’s Lake – Romantic Carnival” will be the grand finale, inviting everyone to take an autumn stroll by the lake, hike the trails, and explore the lake’s ecology.

◎ Tainan Qixi Carnival

Tainan City Government has launched an entire month-long Qixi Carnival in August, combining local tourism with nine different routes. These include “Strolling Through the Love Paths of the Ancient City” in the West Central District, taking visitors to explore attractions such as the Moon God Temple and the scenic bridal spots at Beimen. Each participant receives a small love-themed gift for just NT$150. Additionally, the Tainan Creative Center is hosting an exhibition themed around love tokens, while the Wu Garden Cultural Center is holding a romantic party along with outdoor installation art exhibitions at Lanzhao Tuwen Cultural & Creative Park, among five major Tainan attractions.

◎ Tainan Beimen Crystal Church Lighting

To celebrate the Qixi Valentine’s Festival, the Beimen Crystal Church is set to light up again on Valentine’s Day. Plans are also in place to keep it lit for one hour every weekend at sunset moving forward, allowing every couple to visit Tainan’s Beimen and experience a uniquely romantic evening. The exact timing for lighting on Qixi Day is still under planning.
