Pingtung’s Wutai Township is a popular flower-viewing destination in the south, with cherry blossoms planted since the Japanese colonial period. The annual Wutai cherry blossom season kicks off around spring and winter each year. This year’s Wutai cherry blossom season has already begun, with cherry blossom trees stretching 10 kilometers from Kilometer 38 to Kilometer 48 along Provincial Highway 24 in Alishi Tribe, where the blossoms are blooming one after another. Visitors can plan a cherry blossom viewing trip to check it out.

Among them, the most popular King of Cherry Blossoms continues to draw considerable attention this year, with an estimated full bloom by the end of January. The best time to view the flowers will be during the Lunar New Year holiday. This year, the cherry blossoms in Wutai have bloomed earlier than usual. Along the road toward Alishi Tribe, the blossoms on both sides are already in full bloom, while the rest are expected to gradually flower by the end of the month. Visitors can take advantage of the Lunar New Year holiday to enjoy the blossoms.

In addition to cherry blossom viewing, from now until February 28, the township office will also host a tribal specialty industry market every Saturday and Sunday, as well as during the Lunar New Year holiday, national holidays, and other special days. Tribal cuisine, handicrafts, agricultural specialties, and other goods will be available at the Wutai Tribe Square. Nearby, there’s also a lane street tour.
