Starbucks goes beyond coffee, transforming into a restaurant and bar

Enjoying a cup of Starbucks during a busy workday is a small joy in many people’s lives. Now, Starbucks plans to extend this joy by no longer just offering coffee and snacks—it’s moving toward a bar-style business model. Recently, Starbucks U.S. announced the launch of the “Evenings” program, which will open 24 more stores serving alcoholic beverages and light meals. Dishes such as bacon rolls, meatballs, and chicken skewers will be available. With these 24 new stores, a total of 75 Starbucks locations across the U.S. now offer this service.

Since 2010, Starbucks U.S. has been experimenting with serving wine and food at its Seattle store. After years of trial operations, the company believes this new business model is well-received by Starbucks fans, and it has gradually expanded to a total of 75 stores nationwide, including locations in Chicago, Portland, and Los Angeles.
