The rise of breakfast culture has led many to seek out unique breakfast spots for a tasty meal, kicking off the day on a bright and cheerful note while also turning it into a little morning adventure. In Hsinchu County, there’s a shop that transitioned from being a coffin store to selling breakfast. With its delicious and healthy meals plus a highly talkative backstory, it has attracted many customers eager to visit, making it an alternative must-see attraction in Xinzhu.

Located in Xinzhu Town, Hsinchu County, “Mu Zhuan Wu” was originally a coffin shop with 33 years of history in the area. As modern funeral customs changed, business at the coffin shop declined. Later, it was taken over by Chen Wen-yi, the third-generation granddaughter of the original owner, and her husband Li Pei-ji, who transformed the former coffin store into a breakfast shop focused on health. The main walls are made of bricks, accented with wood elements originally used for making coffins, creating a cozy and rustic retro atmosphere.

When it comes to food, Mu Zhuan Wu insists on using locally sourced fresh ingredients, all handmade on the day. This includes soy milk boiled in-house, black tea from Guanxi Tea Factory, as well as salsas and hibiscus flower honey in the dishes, all carefully made by the owners using fresh fruits and vegetables. Their goal is to ensure every visitor can enjoy a safe and healthy meal.
