A New Look for Indian Cities: Colorful Taxis Hit the Road Creatively

When traveling in India, auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, and taxis on the street are the most convenient modes of transportation. But since you're already traveling abroad, most tourists naturally opt for the more distinctive auto-rickshaws or cycle rickshaws to experience a bit of the local scenery. In comparison, taxis seem to be far less popular.

Local designer Sanket Avlani was determined to change this situation and launched the Taxi Fabric project, inviting designers to give ordinary taxis a major makeover. The imaginative designers blended their creativity with local culture, creating exquisite and culturally meaningful designs that were then printed onto fabric. They transformed the taxis' originally worn interiors, giving the cabin spaces a fresh new look and turning them into Mumbai’s most eye-catching moving art galleries.
