The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, considered one of Denmark’s most beautiful landmarks, is located in the Humlebæk area north of Copenhagen. From the outside, the museum entrance looks like an ordinary bungalow. But once you pass the reception desk, beyond the array of design goods and books, you’ll find a lush green lawn, a sweeping sea view, and sculptures scattered throughout the garden—an exquisite blend of art and nature.

The founder of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Kund W. Jensen, believed that art should be integrated with life and the surrounding environment, allowing visitors to naturally connect with art. As such, the museum breaks away from the confined spaces and formal atmosphere of urban galleries. Its exhibition spaces are primarily long corridors, with display rooms often featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The backgrounds of paintings or sculptures are frequently expansive green lawns or lush, feather-like ferns. Turn a corner, and designer works might stand just beyond the grassy window view. Meanwhile, the seaside café is another highlight—sitting in the open-air café next to the sculptures, the whole scene seems to become part of the exhibition itself.
