Takuya Kimura promotes Taiwan: Can't get enough of mango shaved ice and xiaolongbao

To promote tourism in Taiwan, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation specially invited Japan’s super-popular idol Takuya Kimura to collaborate with international director John Woo on the full 60-second version of the tourism promotional film “I Love Taiwan,” which premiered in Japan on the 27th. The film takes viewers on a journey through Taiwan’s beautiful scenery through the nostalgic lens of Takuya Kimura.

The Japanese male idol Takuya Kimura, who enjoys immense popularity in both Japan and Taiwan, was invited by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau to visit Taiwan in July.He filmed the tourism promotional video at locations such as Neihu Flower Market, Shih Chien University, and Wulai, and in the evening, he visited U? An Tun? Mao Ting. In the film, viewers experience beloved Taiwanese foods like mango shaved ice, oolong tea, and xiaolongbao—familiar favorites in Japan—through Kimura’s perspective. The film concludes with director John Woo’s iconic white dove motif, which spreads its wings to reveal the slogan “Distance mo kokoro mo chikai Taiwan e” (Taiwan: A Heartbeat Away), using a cross-cutting editing technique. Takuya Kimura then personally delivers the line “Time for Taiwan,” guiding viewers through a blend of reality and cherished memories of Taiwan.
