Taipei 101 has once again received international recognition. In a report published on October 9 by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Taipei 101 was listed as one of the world’s eight most beautiful supertall buildings.

Taipei 101 was once the tallest building in the world. Not only is its appearance striking, but its anti-wind and seismic-resistant design — implemented during its initial construction to withstand frequent natural disasters — features intentionally indented corners to disrupt airflow and prevent swaying caused by wind. In addition, Taipei 101 boasts the world’s largest tuned mass damper, used to balance the swaying of the building, ensuring safety even during typhoons. Its world’s fastest elevators can reach speeds of 1,010 meters per minute, though they will automatically stop operating if wind speeds exceed 51 meters per second. It is considered one of the safest skyscrapers in the world.

Other buildings listed among the most beautiful supertall structures include Moscow State University Main Building, Chicago Spire, The Shard in London, UK, Chrysler Building in New York, John Hancock Center in Chicago, Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and the Burj Khalifa.
