In autumn, the Yuanli Huatao Kiln sees its green maples, sweet gums, and Chinese parasol trees—among other deciduous plants—gradually don various beautiful autumn hues according to the season. There are no grand or eye-catching architectural signs here; it simply blends quietly with the natural mountain forest. Ceramic artist and owner Chen Wenhui chose the mountainside of Huoyan Mountain in 1984 and built today’s Huatao Kiln step by step based on the principles of “flowers, ceramics, kilns, and scenery.” The beautiful garden is full of thoughtful design. Stepping into the rustic traditional three-courtyard farmhouse, you’ll see red brick walls, wooden doors, black tiles, and locally sourced Dajianxi stones—a cultural kiln site brimming with modern wood-fired art.

Along the riverside landscape within the kiln garden, the lush Taiwanese garden design and the acacia woods make Huatao Kiln itself a beautiful scenic presence. Walking through the park, you can enjoy tea under camphor trees or take a stroll to admire the maples. The rich natural beauty, combined with kiln culture, allows visitors to enjoy a half-day trip to view ceramics, native animals, hand-pulled cups, and more, spending a relaxing afternoon.
