Situated in Chile, South America, the Atacama Desert is known as one of the driest places on the planet due to its year-round aridity and absence of rain. Recently, however, it was hit by Hurricane Patricia—the strongest storm ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere—bringing an abundance of moisture that transformed the normally parched land into a vast expanse of blooming flowers, creating a surreal, fairy-tale-like landscape that left many awestruck.
