The Gong Weixu Railway Tunnel, with a century-old history in Miaoli, has recently been transformed into a dreamy rainbow tunnel adorned with neon lights after being redeveloped by the municipal government. Built in 1902, the Gong Weixu Tunnel boasts over a century of history and remains remarkably well-preserved. Stretching 460 meters from downtown Miaoli through Catley Mountain to Nanshi, it is not only the only railway tunnel in Taiwan designed like a city wall but also considered by many railway enthusiasts as one of the most beautiful red-brick tunnels built during the Japanese colonial era. Recently, after photos of its newly added colorful LED lights were shared on the Miaoli Exploration fan page, it quickly became a hot topic and popular local attraction.

To visit the Gong Weixu Tunnel, drive to the area near Catley Mountain Park first. After parking at Catley Mountain Park, you can walk to the tunnel. There are also signs indicating the Gong Weixu Tunnel along the way—just follow them to get there.
