The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, in line with the Executive Yuan’s “Consumption Boost” initiative, has launched a domestic travel accommodation subsidy program. From November 20, 2015 (104 year) to February 29, 2016 (105 year), as long as you log in to the designated webpage (Taiwan Accommodation Network, Tourism Administrative Information Network, Taiwan Tourism...) with your national ID number and related personal information, you can obtain an electronic accommodation subsidy voucher. Each person can receive up to NT$1,000 off. When applications opened at 10:00 AM on November 20, the website experienced an overwhelming surge in traffic, with 1.4 million users accessing the site simultaneously, making it difficult for many to successfully apply and sparking public frustration.

The computer system for the tourism subsidy application crashed, leaving many people waiting online for extended periods. Some waited two hours to get a voucher, while others waited seven or eight hours, causing significant dissatisfaction among applicants. In response, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced an emergency doubling of the subsidy quotas on the evening of November 20. The number of accommodation subsidy vouchers increased from 115,000 to 230,000, and the number of theme park travel subsidies rose from 40,000 to 80,000.
