One-day Taipei cycling tour to explore new flower sea attractions

The flower sea in Xinzhuang, Taichung, and the chrysanthemum exhibition at Shilin Official Residence in Taipei have kicked off, sparking waves of flower appreciation enthusiasm. If you’d rather avoid the crowds at popular spots, consider visiting the Yanping Riverside to enjoy the flowers — over 50,000 seasonal blooms are arranged into a romantic sea of flowers. The viewing period lasts until late December.

This new flower-viewing spot is located next to Dunhuang Wharf. It’s just a 10-minute bike ride north from Dadaocheng Wharf. The flower sea features over 50,000 seasonal plants, including crabapple flowers in four colors — red, peach, pink, and white — as well as purple salvia, yellow cosmos, and gazania, creating a vibrant ribbon-like floral display. A wave-patterned design highlights the unique landscape of this waterside park.

Additionally, the nearby “Taipei Light Board” has become a recent favorite. Made up of 17,280 metal pieces, its colors shift beautifully from day to dusk, offering captivating light-and-shadow effects that make it a top photo spot. For another great view, head to the elevated riverside viewing platform at Dihua Sports Park. About 8 meters (roughly two stories) high, the platform provides an exceptional vantage point to take in the entire flower sea and the scenic views along the Tamsui River. The area includes spacious, comfortable seating where visitors can relax under the sunset, starlight, or moonlight, enjoying the leisurely charm of the riverside.

Whether you’re going out with family or inviting a few friends along, come cycle to Yanping Riverside to admire the flower sea, then stop by Dadaocheng Wharf and Dihua Street along the way.
