Take a weekend spring outing — the second-phase fallow flower fields in New Taipei City are gradually blooming. Locations including the Yonghe District Civic Farm, as well as areas around Zhongzheng 3rd Road and Erjia Road, have been showcasing flower sea views since late November. These include cosmos, yellow cosmos, and zinnias, attracting many visitors to Yonghe for flower appreciation.

In the past, many areas in New Taipei City were used to grow rice in paddy fields. With urban development and reduced food demand, the city's total rice planting area has shrunk to just 116 hectares, with Yonghe District having the largest area, about 40 hectares planted in the first phase. To prevent farmland from lying idle, the Agriculture Bureau encourages farmers to plant about 30 hectares of ornamental crops in the second phase. Aside from receiving fallow subsidies, this also beautifies the surrounding farmland environment. Take advantage of the weekend and head to New Taipei to enjoy the flowers and discover small joys hidden in its alleys.

1. Take the free Erqiao Jiande Line bus within Yonghe District
Get off at Zhongzheng 3rd Road Lane 318, Lane 398-1, or Qiu’s Alley (currently, colorful flower seas are gradually blooming); or get off at the highway bridge stop (flower seas are expected to bloom gradually from mid-to-late December)
2. Civic Farm: Drive northbound or southbound and exit at the Sanxia-Yonghe Interchange → head toward Yonghe, make the first turn after crossing the Sanying Bridge → drive straight along the service road under the Sanying Bridge to the end, then turn right onto Huannan Road → continue straight until you see a metal shed near the highway with a sign for the Civic Farm, then turn right.
