With New Year’s Day 2016 approaching, the Er Liao mountain area in Zuozhen District, Tainan City, is one of the popular spots to welcome the first sunrise in recent years, attracting over 3,000 visitors in past years. This year, coinciding with a long holiday period, for visitor safety and to accommodate the Er Liao sunrise shuttle bus arrangements, the 2016 Er Liao Sunrise Event will implement a 3,000-person capacity limit. Entry will be by ticket only, and will align with traffic control and shuttle bus schedules.

Located in Zuozhen District, Tainan City, Er Liao has become a highly popular tourist destination and a renowned photography spot in recent years. It is the lowest-altitude location in Taiwan where you can enjoy a sunrise over the sea of clouds, allowing you to witness the spectacular view without having to trek great distances. This year, the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration has built an observation platform at Er Liao with stunning views and a capacity for a thousand people, and will also feature a performance by the Ten Drums Art Percussion Group. Welcome the first light of dawn amid the uplifting and hopeful sounds of drums.

After considering factors such as space and transportation, the organizers have decided to continue the pre-event ticketing system for this year’s sunrise event, just as they did earlier in the year, to ensure a safe and comfortable viewing experience for all visitors. Entry and shuttle bus rides will both require tickets, thereby enhancing safety and maintaining smooth traffic around the venue.

The Siraya National Scenic Area Administration has planned for visitors to pick up tickets in advance (at 13 designated locations) before the event. Ticket collection begins on December 14, 2015, and ends on December 31, 2015. Initially, 1,000 tickets for the newly completed “Sun Viewing Platform” will be distributed, and once those are claimed, 2,000 general entry tickets will be issued until supplies run out (limit of 4 tickets per person). Interested visitors are advised to grab their tickets within the designated time frame.
