The adorable "Gudetama" themed cake exhibition is a huge hit

Always seen in its slumped, lazy pose, Gudetama has captured hearts with its cute and comforting image. Its immense popularity continues to sweep across Taiwan. In addition to the highly anticipated year-end themed exhibition "Gudetama Can't Be Bothered Exhibition," it has recently collaborated with a cupcake shop to launch themed cupcakes, sparking a buying frenzy.

Sanrio’s star character Gudetama, beloved by fans both in Japan and abroad, is a relatively new character that debuted in 2013. Despite being new, its distinctive image quickly earned it second place in Sanrio Japan’s “Food Character Selection Contest,” laying a strong foundation for its popularity. Now, riding the wave of Gudetama fever, cupcake shop Claudi has collaborated with the character to launch themed cupcakes. These include “Shaky Berries,” filled with berry-flavored jam; “Lazy Chocolate,” a chocolate cupcake with a soft, chewy marshmallow center; and “Lazy Apple,” an apple-flavored cupcake drizzled with rich caramel sauce. Each cupcake features Gudetama lying down, sitting, or sprawled out — just looking at them is incredibly soothing. Made by hand and sold in limited quantities daily, each cupcake is priced at 120 TWD and sells out within an hour, showcasing the undeniable charm of Gudetama.
