The old-looking machine not only sells Cokes cheaper than those outside, but also features options labeled only as “Mystery” (mysterious), leaving people puzzled. It even has its own dedicated fan page on Facebook, becoming an alternative landmark.

The mysterious vending machine is located on Capitol Hill. No one knows how it appeared, nor who restocks it or collects the money. All that’s known is that its prices are cheaper than those of regular vending machines selling cola drinks — typically, a can of cola costs at least $1.25, but this machine sells them for just 75 cents. Even so, due to its old and weathered appearance, few people actually buy from it.

This vending machine sells beverages such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Fanta. All the options on the machine are labeled with the word “Mystery.” Customers never know which drink they’ll get until it drops out. Nowadays, this mysterious vending machine has gained enough fame to have its own Facebook page, “Mystery Coke Machine.” It posts updates and photos on its own, and has already attracted over 20,000 likes.
