The “2016 Tokyo Colorful Shopping Festival in Shibuya” kicked off on January 2, 2016 and ran through the end of February, spanning two months. This shopping festival, organized for the first time by a Taiwanese company in Tokyo, will be centered in the most bustling area of Shibuya, holding a series of events around key locations such as Marui Department Store, Seibu Department Store, and PARCO.

The Tokyo Shopping Festival is a large-scale event. The campaign period coincides with the Chinese New Year and Western Valentine’s Day holidays. A total of 11 department stores including Shibuya Mitsukoshi, Shibuya Marui, and Shibuya MODI — both individual and chain stores — are participating in this Tokyo Shopping Festival. Moreover, discounts are being offered by fashion clothing stores and dining establishments alike, including KOMEHYO, Japan’s largest dealer of second-hand brand items, Gap/GapKids, the design market kaffe Orobianco, and Jean Pablo, which specializes in affordable Italian-style formal wear. These fashion and accessory shops are all offering special discounts during the shopping festival.

Winners can use these “red packets” at 896 featured stores. Visitors simply need to follow the “Cyber Shake” WeChat official account and visit the Shibuya Shopping Festival area during the campaign period to shake their phones anytime, any number of times.

Japanese izakaya “Domodom,” yakitori restaurant “Nanban-tei,” and “Houzan Toriten no Jouzu” are offering in-store discounts. More merchant discounts will be announced soon. Those planning to visit Tokyo during the Chinese New Year should not miss the chance to join the fun in Shibuya.
