Lonely Road was shortlisted for the Premieres section of the 31st Sundance Film Festival, adapted from the real-life memoir *Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself* by bestselling American author David Lipsky. Directed by the filmmaker behind *The Spectacular Now* and produced by the team behind the hit series *True Detective*, it stars Jesse Eisenberg (*The Social Network*) and Jason Segel (*Sex Tape*). Through brilliant performances, their rapid-fire dialogue brings to life every moment of emotional tension, igniting dazzling sparks of acting prowess.

In 1996, David Lipsky (played by Jesse Eisenberg), a newly appointed journalist for *Rolling Stone*, embarks on a five-day road trip with the overnight-famous writer David Foster Wallace (played by Jason Segel) for an interview assignment. During their journey, the two Davids gradually form a subtle friendship—sometimes confiding like close friends, other times silently competing. Both witness each other’s most vulnerable sides, yet neither is willing to openly admit their bond. After the trip, the article is never published, and the two never meet again. The recorded conversations from that time become a secret between just them, quietly resting in a corner of the house.

In 2008, Wallace dies by suicide, reigniting Lipsky’s long-buried memories. It turns out that this five-day road trip—and their discussions on loneliness, fame, and life aspirations—had already left a profound impact on both their journeys.

David Foster Wallace, hailed by the *Los Angeles Times* as the most influential American writer of the past 20 years, published his groundbreaking work *Infinite Jest* in 1996, which cemented his literary status. Yet, despite his immense talent, he chose to end his life in 2008. Only after his death did Lipsky write *Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself*, recounting those unforgettable five days.
