The Plum Blossoms of Xilaya Are in Full Bloom – Here’s Your Lazy Guide to Enjoying Them on Meiling

Thanks to the warm winter, the plum blossoms have bloomed slightly later than usual. However, from this week until the end of January, it’s the peak blooming period on Meiling and the best time to admire the plum blossoms this year. The Xilaya Scenic Area Management Office has specially launched a lazy guide to admiring the plum blossoms, introducing scenic spots within the park for visitors’ reference. During this period, there’s also a limited-time photo-taking reward event, where you might even win a cozy scarf.

Meiling is the largest plum-producing area in southern Taiwan. In recent years, the Xilaya Scenic Area Management Office has integrated agriculture with tourism, allowing visitors to not only enjoy the plum blossoms but also get some exercise hiking in the mountains. It is recommended that visitors follow the Wulong Trail to reach the largest plum blossom area on Meiling and immerse themselves in a sea of white blooms that look like snow. If you’re up for a challenge, continue along the trail to “Chushuiwei,” a hidden gem known only to locals, where the plum blossoms are particularly stunning.

In addition to January, visitors can also enjoy flower viewing in early February on Meifeng Ancient Trail, where mountain cherry blossoms, peonies, azaleas, and camellias bloom. The vibrant colors across the hills create a scene of joy that visitors can enjoy during spring, one of the happiest times of the year.
