Provincial Highway 101A (Bailaka Highway) is narrow and winding. In the event of snowfall, to prevent excessive vehicle congestion and danger, the 4th Battalion of the 7th Brigade of the Security Police Corps under the National Police Agency will set up traffic control points at the entrance of the Yangjin Highway leading to Provincial Highway 101A and at Datun Nature Park. Vehicles equipped with snow chains will be allowed through based on road conditions, while all other vehicles will be prohibited from entering.The Datun Mountain Road is closed to all motor vehicles except official and media vehicles.

In response to potential snowfall in the Yangmingshan area, the Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters has launched measures outlined under “In the Event of Snowfall, Check Traffic Control Details on the Public Transport Bureau Webpage.” Currently, there is no confirmed snowfall. However, with the ongoing low-temperature warning, traffic control is highly likely, and bus routes will also be adjusted flexibly according to actual conditions. In the first phase, if the road surface on Yangjin Highway (Provincial Highway 101A, i.e., Bailaka Highway to Zhonghu War Preparedness Road) ices over, traffic control will be activated to prohibit vehicle passage. In the second phase, depending on the volume of vehicles on mountain roads, traffic control and guidance will be initiated at the base of the mountain, in coordination with the existing holiday permit controls on Yangde Boulevard (from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Fuxing Bridge entrance restricting uphill traffic).

Before setting off, please confirm:
1. Thoroughly check your vehicle’s condition, ensure there is enough coolant and windshield washer fluid, and add antifreeze.
2. Check the tire pressure and tread depth of both your tires and spare tire, or consider installing snow chains.
3. Driving on snowy roads can easily lead to skidding, so maintain a greater following distance.
4. Turn on your vehicle’s lights during poor weather conditions.
5. Run the heater while driving to prevent condensation and fogging on the vehicle’s windows.

Since the Yangmingshan area is serviced by the 108 Sightseeing Bus and various hiking trails connecting different recreational spots, and given the narrow mountain roads and limited parking, the park management has coordinated with the Taipei City Government’s Department of Transportation’s Public Transport Bureau to request bus operators to increase service frequency. Visitors planning to go up the mountain for snow viewing are encouraged to use public transportation along with hiking trails to avoid traffic congestion affecting the travel experience. Additionally, be sure to dress warmly and stay mindful of your own safety. Before departure, keep an eye on traffic updates.
