New Year, New Attractions: The Happy Transfer Station Welcomes More Jimmy Liao Artworks

Yilan Welcomes New Jimmy Liao Attraction! Yilan’s Happy Transfer Station, in conjunction with New Year events, will feature a temporary exhibition of brand-new large-scale Jimmy Liao art installations from February 7 to 14. It is expected to officially open in April. Fans of Jimmy Liao who want an early peek should make the most of the Spring Festival holiday.

The Jimmy Liao Park at Yilan Railway Station has always been a favorite attraction for visitors to Yilan. Characters from picture books stepping into the real world bring more imagination to life. The Yilan County Government transformed the old Taiwan Motor Transport station building, repurposing the long-idle Kuo-Kuang Bus terminal into the new attraction “Yilan Happy Transfer Station.” The aim is to provide job opportunities for disadvantaged groups within the county and offer daytime care services for individuals with disabilities. Once completed, it will also include physical retail outlets, hoping to connect with the nearby Jimmy Liao Park in front of the train station to create a complete Jimmy Liao cultural corridor for visitors.

Among the installations at the Happy Transfer Station, the most adorable and eye-catching pieces are a 12-meter-tall giraffe and a 4-meter-tall pink elephant, designed based on Jimmy Liao’s picture book “Don’t Forget to Hug.” Additionally, visitors can see the story’s protagonist, Little Tree, sitting adorably with Pudding Dog at the bus stop in front of the transfer station, or explore dreamlike scenes personifying Little Tree—all set to become playful facilities for children.
