The Oscars of the chain service industry are out！She is Taiwan’s most outstanding store manager

Organized by the Taiwan Chain and Franchise Association (TFCA), the “2017 Outstanding Store Manager Selection” has entered its 20th year this year. Dubbed the “Oscars of the chain service industry,” the competition saw 32 chain enterprises and 301 store managers across Taiwan battle it out for half a year. The Yumyum Group had four winners: Cheryl Chen from Wang Steak, Zhuo Liwei from Pin-Tian Ranch, Zheng Hancheng from Gourmet Gallery, and Yang Qiaowei from Shi Er Guo. Among them, Manager Cheryl Chen scored the highest and became the spokesperson for the newly crowned 48 outstanding store managers nationwide. Today (25th), she shared her 10 years of management experience at the Presidential Office.

Cheryl Chen joined Yumyum as a part-timer during her sophomore year in college. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from Chang Jung Christian University, she continued to work within the Yumyum system. Driven by her passion for serving customers, she stayed for 16 years and was promoted to store manager in 2012. She said, “I started from the grassroots level, so I am more willing to lead by example and show care for my colleagues. I treat customers like friends and family, and use natural service to satisfy them.” She added that Yumyum was her first job and will also be the last entry on her résumé.

Yang Qiaowei, the 27-year-old store manager of Shi Er Guo, is nicknamed the “Shi Er Guo’s Giddens.” This time, she won both the Outstanding Store Manager award and the individual “Outstanding Interview Award.” Four years ago, she graduated from National Cheng Kung University with a degree in Business Administration and participated in the first phase of the Yumyum Group’s New Talent Training Program. After a year of training, she became an assistant store manager (equivalent to a store manager) at Shi Er Guo. Yang Qiaowei said, “Working in food and beverage service is doing what I love. It’s challenging but also fulfilling, and as an assistant store manager, I can apply what I learned in university to managing the store.” In her fifth year with the group, she has already managed two stores. Rotating staff through different positions for training is a key factor in how Yumyum Group outperforms other F&B groups in talent development.

The Yumyum Group has participated in the Outstanding Store Manager Selection since 1999 and has won a total of 24 awards over 17 years. After winning, they have continued to grow. Six top executives in the business divisions have previously received the award, such as General Manager Huang Jiaqing of “Putien,” Vice President Wang Fubiao of “Cité,” Vice President Hou Pengrong of “Summer Palace,” and Manager Lü Yizhen of “Blue Porcelain.” The Yumyum Group spares no effort in cultivating talent and provides opportunities for multi-brand experience.
