Adjustment Information for High-Speed Rail Spring Festival Transport in Response to the Kaohsiung Earthquake

The high-speed rail has updated train operation status again on the evening of February 6. The information is as follows:

 

Taichung Station - Zuoying Station Operating Schedule Adjustment

 

Kaohsiung Earthquake - Operating Schedule Adjustment

Operating mode will be adjusted tomorrow (7th). Details are as follows:

Taiwan High Speed Rail will adjust its operating mode tomorrow (7th) due to the impact of a strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Meinong, Kaohsiung at 3:57 AM today (6th). Details are as follows:

1. From 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM (inclusive), the Taipei–Taichung section will maintain some scheduled services. Direct and semi-direct trains are canceled. Starting from 8:30 AM, the Taichung → Chiayi and Chiayi → Taichung sections will provide 2 all-general-admission (excluding business class) trains per hour to transport passengers.

In response to damage to the high-speed rail section south of Taichung caused by the Kaohsiung earthquake, spring festival transport is affected, and train operations are being adjusted flexibly. (Image source / Taiwan High Speed Rail)

Before 12:00 PM, the following services between Taipei and Taichung are canceled:

Southbound services: 101, 1305, 109, 1307, 1509, 115, 1309, 1513, 121, 1123, 1311, 1517, 127, 1129, 1313, 1521, 133

Northbound services: 250, 106, 1304, 1510, 112, 118

 

2. The number of BRT buses from the Chiayi HSR Station to the city (via TRA Chiayi Station) has increased from 4 to 6 per hour. The Chiayi HSR Station has also coordinated with bus operators to provide connecting services to TRA Tainan Station and HSR Zuoying Station, departing as soon as full. These measures will remain in place until 12:00 PM tomorrow (7th).

 

3. The operating mode after 12:00 PM will be announced before 6:30 AM tomorrow (7th).



Ticket-related handling procedures are as follows:

This earthquake coincides with the peak of the Spring Festival travel season. After the quake, in addition to coordinating with TRA and bus operators to assist passenger transfers at HSR Zuoying Station and Taichung Station, Taiwan High Speed Rail has adjusted its ticket handling and refund/exchange policies. The details are as follows:

 

1) For passengers who purchased tickets for trains delayed or canceled due to the earthquake, if the ticket has not been used, you may go to any station ticket window within one year from the original travel date to request a full refund without a service fee. Alternatively, you may continue to use your original ticket for a seat on any subsequent available train, or exchange it for a reserved seat on another available train.

 

2) For passengers who purchased tickets for the Taichung–Zuoying section today, the fare for the unused portion will be refunded. You may visit any station ticket window within one year with your ticket to process the refund.

 

3) In addition, out of care for passengers during the Spring Festival travel period, the HSR company will specially arrange connecting services to TRA or buses for passengers affected by the earthquake. The cost of these connecting services will be covered on a case-by-case basis by the HSR company.
