The only Taiwanese hotel to win the “Best Design Hotels Awards” is this one!

At the awards ceremony held in Shanghai on the 22nd for the prestigious “9th Best Design Hotels Awards,” an authoritative high-end design hotel selection event organized by Mainland-based Bund Media, Silks Club (晶英国际行馆), meticulously designed and developed over 11 years by the Royal Group and inaugurated on November 5 last year, won the “Best Emerging Fashion” award, making it the only hotel in Taiwan to receive an award in 2018.

Shao Yongtian, Chairman of the Royal Group and Silks Club, took the stage to accept the award and deliver a speech. In addition to expressing gratitude for the judges’ recognition, he noted that Kaohsiung, the maritime capital, has accumulated considerable soft power in the fields of culture and art in recent years, and holds tremendous potential for future tourism development. He welcomed guests from around the world to visit Kaohsiung for a “stylish escape” journey.

Located in Kaohsiung’s Asia New Bay Area, Silks Club adopts art as its core design concept. It invited the world-renowned German art creation team Art + Com, drawing inspiration from Kaohsiung, to create the world’s first 4D floating kinetic sculpture art installation in the hotel’s first-floor lobby — “Dancing Particle” — which is a major highlight. The visual presentation within the venue embodies a minimalist and textured aesthetic. With the original intention of building an international art exchange platform, the hotel curated and invited nearly 200 outstanding artists from both Taiwan and overseas to contribute works. It aims to establish an international art exchange hub in Kaohsiung and uncover more promising artists. Winning the “Best Emerging Fashion” award this time is truly well-deserved.

The Best Design Hotels Awards aims to discover design hotels that meet world-class standards. With the lifestyle attitude of “stylish escape” as its theme, the selection is based on factors such as the design team, architectural features, location, service facilities, and innovative highlights of participating hotels. Over a hundred hotels were shortlisted, and the final winners were chosen from evaluations by a panel of 100 judges, including figures from the entertainment industry, designers, industry opinion leaders, cultural celebrities, lifestyle experts, and online influencers (KOLs), as well as hotel enthusiasts. The goal is to curate for readers a selection of hotels that offer exceptional quality, design appeal, and a great service experience.
