Spring is drawing to a close, and while cherry blossom ponds can still be seen blooming in some places, the nighttime scenery is becoming increasingly romantic. The Dongshi Forest Farm Firefly Season in Taichung officially begins now and runs through mid-May. It is expected that from mid-April to the end of April will be the peak period for firefly sightings, with numbers reaching up to 200,000 to 300,000, their nightly flights creating a spectacle akin to a fluorescent party.

Dongshi Forest Farm is a well-known firefly-viewing destination in central Taiwan. The park is primarily home to “black-winged fireflies,” and from now until May, visitors can enjoy scenes dotted with tiny lights. From March 21 to May 2, Dongshi Forest Farm has launched a Starlight Ticket—enjoy a discounted price of NT$160 per person for entry after 3 PM on weekdays (Monday to Thursday).
