Many Taiwanese tourists place orders on Japanese shopping websites before traveling to Japan and have their purchases delivered to their upcoming hotels, but things can get tricky if the hotel doesn’t offer package holding services. Now you don’t have to worry, as Japan Post has started offering a package pickup service at post offices since April 1, providing travelers with a new option for collecting their online purchases.

To provide the public with more convenient services, Japan Post has launched a package pickup service for online purchases. Users only need to specify a post office as the delivery address when shopping online to receive a pickup code (via email) from the shopping website. They can then collect their items by presenting this code at the designated post office. Once the service is implemented, it will be available at 20,000 post offices nationwide, excluding simple service post offices, with plans to expand the service to all 45,400 post offices in the future.

Please note that to use Japan Post’s package holding service, you can only select the postal service “You Pack (ゆうパック)” when purchasing items. There is a combined size limit of 170 cm (length + width + height), and the weight limit is 30 kg.
