Coming from Hong Kong, Dim Dim Sum has been in Taiwan for over a year and currently has three branches. To welcome the Year of the Rooster, the store launched a 10-day “Chinese New Year Special Series” event from January 27 to February 5, along with an ultimate guide to gifts that are perfect for both giving and personal use—ensuring every day of the holiday has its own special dish.

Little New Year’s Eve: Nostalgic Glutinous Rice Chicken
Before looking ahead to the future during the holidays, let the nostalgic Glutinous Rice Chicken take you back through the ups and downs of the past year. By the way, if you’re stuck in holiday traffic on your way home, it can also help fill your stomach.
Dish Introduction: As one of Hong Kong’s most classic dim sum items, the soul of Glutinous Rice Chicken lies in its amazingly smooth texture. Moist glutinous rice with a delicate lotus leaf aroma wraps around a rich filling including chestnuts, salted egg yolk, pork, peanuts, and more, adding layers of flavor and delivering a satisfyingly hearty experience.

New Year’s Eve: Pan-Fried Radish Cake
A must-have at reunion dinners, radish cake symbolizes good fortune. Paired with Dim Dim Sum’s large chunks of fresh, sweet radish, it promises a sweet start to the new year.
Dish Introduction: Also one of Hong Kong’s most classic dim sum dishes, every bite of radish cake at Dim Dim Sum lets you taste generous chunks of fresh white radish. The outer layer is pan-fried to a golden, crispy finish, which further highlights the radish’s natural sweetness. Suggested to be dipped in the included spicy sauce & seaweed sauce for an even tastier upgrade.

Lunar New Year’s Day: Piglet Lava Custard Buns
Wearing new clothes and celebrating the New Year—how can you not bring a little gift? These super-cute piggy buns have won over both kids and adults, and they even come with a fun conversation starter.
Dish Introduction: Aside from their adorable design, the Piglet Lava Custard Buns feature a filling made by blending salted egg yolk with various dairy products. With one bite, the golden, sweet filling slowly oozes out—rich yet not greasy—transforming your initial delight at the piggy shape into a feeling of heartwarming happiness.

Lunar New Year’s Day 2: Crystal Clear Shrimp Dumplings
What should you bring when visiting your wife’s family? Bring dumplings, of course. Their ingot-like shape is said to bring your mother-in-law luck in mahjong—winning streak after winning streak.
Dish Introduction: Shrimp dumplings are one of Hong Kong’s most classic dim sum items and also embody the spirit of Cantonese dim sum. Crystal Clear Shrimp Dumplings are filled with fresh shrimp mixed with pork back fat, then combined with wheat starch (known as cheng fen) and cornstarch mixed with water to form the wrapper. The skin is springy without being mushy, the filling is firm without being greasy. The perfect handcrafting of simple ingredients easily brings out traditional flavors.

Lunar New Year’s Day 3: Hand-Picked Alishan Jin Xuan Oolong
“The first day early, the second day early, the third day sleep in.” Didn’t get enough sleep and ate too much over the holidays? Today, take a break. Have a cup of tea to cut through the grease.
Dish Introduction: Hand-picked tender green buds are fermented to make Alishan Jin Xuan Oolong, also known as Taiwan Tea No. 12. It offers floral aromas with hints of fruitiness, along with a mellow milky note. Its light and refreshing taste pairs intriguingly well with innovative Hong Kong-style dim sum combinations.

Lunar New Year’s Day 4: Taro & Radish Balls
“Send off the gods early, welcome them late.” Got a lavish meal ready to welcome the deities? Taro & Radish Balls not only look like radishes—a symbol of good fortune—but also feature a rich taro paste that’s sweet without being cloying, joyfully ushering in the new year.
Dish Introduction: With the appearance of carrots but filled with taro paste, these balls are coated in a springy skin made of glutinous rice flour, while the filling is a specially made, rich taro paste in classic Hong Kong style. Their simple appearance hides anything but bland flavors, and they are a top favorite among kids.

Lunar New Year’s Day 5: Crispy Pork Floss Cheung Fun
Time flies—Lunar New Year’s first working day / market reopening is here. Want to boost your luck in wealth, career, exams, and love in the Year of the Rooster? You can’t miss out on Crispy Pork Floss Cheung Fun.
Dish Introduction: The springy skin of the cheung fun is paired with specially selected imported rice netting, replacing the usual oily fried dough sticks, and is loaded with generous amounts of pork floss. Less greasy, more delightfully crispy. One bite fills your mouth with pork floss, awakening nostalgic taste memories with its classic old-school flavor.

Lunar New Year’s Day 6: Honest Pineapple Buns
As the holiday comes to an end, it’s time to get back to work. Time to face reality and be honest.
Dish Introduction: Hong Kong-style pineapple buns originated from Hong Kong locals’ dissatisfaction with plain buns. They innovated by coating the buns with a mixture of sugar, eggs, and flour, then baking them until crispy—earning their name due to their golden, pineapple-like appearance, which added texture to an otherwise plain bun.
Dim Dim Sum’s creative dish—the Honest Pineapple Bun—isn’t your ordinary bun with butter inside and char siu on top. It’s an honestly developed, genuine bun filled with real pineapple filling. With its sweet and tangy flavor, crispy yet soft texture, it offers a uniquely sincere taste experience, making it one of Dim Dim Sum’s most popular bestsellers.
