The Tainan Yuze Port Lantern Festival: A Stunning Light Display with Kyoto-Inspired Art Installations and Spectacular Light Sculptures Not to Be Missed

The highlight of every Lunar New Year celebration is the lantern festival, and the Tainan Yanshui Yuze Port Lantern Festival kicks off in early February. Themed "A Promise," it invites contemporary artists from both domestic and international backgrounds in technology and new media art to participate, presenting their works through light installations, combining the local culture and scenery of Tainan’s Yanshui. The Cultural Affairs Bureau has released a promotional video that links the Yanshui Beehive Rockets for the first time, with the light show starting from Yanshui Wu Temple and illuminating the Yuze Port Lantern Festival.

The artworks exhibited this year are all site-specific installations created by the artists, showcasing rich and vibrant expressions in both daylight and nighttime. They explore the diverse intersections of nature, history, civilization, human relationships, and time and space, using the romance of light to evoke people's commitment to promises.

The 2018 Yuze Port Lantern Festival exhibition area has expanded once again, including the Yuze Port water area, the historic Yanshui district such as Qiaonan Old Street, Wangye Temple Lane, and surrounding communities, making the Yuze Port water area a complete art creation platform.
