New cherry blossom forecast in Japan: Full bloom in Tokyo around early April, Kyoto and Osaka at their most beautiful in mid-April

Spring is approaching, and Japan’s cherry blossom season is set to officially begin by the end of March. Japan’s Wethermap has updated its cherry blossom blooming predictions. Popular viewing spots such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto are expected to reach full bloom on April 2, 9, and 10 respectively, while Hokkaido is forecasted to reach full bloom around May 5.

According to Wethermap, due to the effects of the warm winter, areas in Kyushu except Fukuoka may see significantly delayed blooming times. The blooming period in the Kanto region is expected to be roughly the same as previous years. Meanwhile, although Hokkaido was not affected by the warm winter, rising temperatures after February have led to an earlier blooming time.
