Under the well-known “Wang Group,” there are several subsidiary restaurant brands. Recently, the group has set up shop in Xinyi District with “Cook Beef,” a new spot specializing in affordable steak rice. It has garnered significant attention since its opening, attracting food enthusiasts from far and wide. Despite long queues, many are willing to wait just to savor the flavors crafted by Wang Group.

Operating for less than a month and a half, “Cook Beef” is located right across from the Taipei City Hall MRT Station. Even before noon, you can see a line of eager diners forming outside the glass windows. Its large, eye-catching graffiti-style sign, with its rebellious and edgy design, makes this eatery stand out on the street as a must-visit dining spot.

Unlike previous Wang Group restaurants, this one doesn’t aim for a high-end, polished aesthetic. Instead, it adopts a more youth-oriented, subcultural street style. Netizens have praised the cool and memorable dining atmosphere, and if you look closely, you’ll also notice elements of industrial design woven in.

Placed on a blue-green plate is a small cast-iron pan marked with the restaurant’s logo, atop which sits a steaming, aromatic dish that fills the air with mouthwatering scents. Among the five main dishes, the signature “Cook Premium Shabu-Shabu Steak” is the most popular. The tender, pink-hued thick slices of beef are artistically draped beside a bed of white rice, accompanied by a semi-runny egg — a comforting dish that’s both visually and flavor-wise a hit. The texture and taste of the meat have received widespread acclaim.

Another top pick is the “Wild Little Beef Ribs.” These ribs, coated in a special sauce, are arranged upright along the edge of the pan. You can simply grab and bite into the tender, juicy meat, letting the flavors burst in your mouth — an ideal choice for those who love to eat meat with gusto, the so-called “wild” carnivores.

In addition to the main dishes, the restaurant also offers other creative options like the “Jazz Rose Steak,” which arrives stacked high like a mini mountain of beef, the “Rock ‘n’ Roll Cherry Duck” with its chewy texture and tart berry flavors, and the “BBQ Tatu Pork” that’s pan-seared, roasted, then glazed with honey, black sugar, and teriyaki sauce. “Cook Beef” stands out in Xinyi District as a new meat lover’s destination both for its innovation and trendiness — meat enthusiasts, come get in on the craze!
