Typhoon Nepartak intensifies into a strong typhoon, shifting southward in path and increasing threat to Taiwan

Typhoon Nepartak, this year’s first, intensified into a strong typhoon at 2 a.m. on the 6th. Its center was located about 1,270 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi, moving rapidly northwestward. According to the latest path forecast from the Central Weather Bureau, Nepartak is expected to make landfall near Hualien and Taitung. A sea warning is expected to be issued at 14:30 on the 6th, and a land warning at 23:30 in the evening.

Due to the strengthening of the Pacific high pressure system, strong Typhoon Nepartak’s path has shifted southward. According to the Central Weather Bureau’s typhoon prediction chart, the eye of Typhoon Nepartak almost spans the entire Taiwan. The 7th and 8th will be the most severe days for Taiwan, with the main range of the storm circle covering areas north of central Taiwan, northeastern regions, and eastern parts. Everyone is reminded to prepare for the typhoon. Those with travel plans should keep an eye on weather and flight information at all times.

The Central Weather Bureau issued a sea warning for Typhoon Nepartak at 2:30 p.m. on the 6th. According to the latest weather data, the intensity of Typhoon Nepartak has slightly increased, and the radius of the storm has also expanded somewhat. The typhoon center is currently moving northwestward over the seas southeast of Hualien. Long waves are expected along the eastern half, northern regions, and the Hengchun Peninsula. Avoid going to the beach, and pay attention to travel information for trips to and from outlying islands.
