Add a uniquely creative hidden gem to your foodie map

The location of this restaurant isn’t in the bustling heart of downtown Kaohsiung, often giving off a somewhat secluded vibe. But just a two-minute walk from Gangshan Station will bring you to this secret spot. Push open the rusty door and you’ll be greeted by a cool industrial-style interior paired with a warm wooden bar counter—preserving a tranquil atmosphere while also balancing a comforting warmth. It makes you even more curious about the owner’s vision for both decor and cuisine.

If you think this is just a simple diner or café, don’t be fooled by its hipster exterior. Often, the same ingredients can be recombined and prepared in different ways to create entirely new flavors. The classic duo of banana and chocolate is served in a large bowl, then flipped upside down, flowing together with melted cheese in a visually and flavorfully creative presentation; American beef paired with crispy Taiwanese-garlic-infused cookie chips creates a richly aromatic beef-garlic-cookie rice; and there’s also the eagerly anticipated peppercorn hotpot to look forward to when winter comes, bringing a whole new “peppery” highlight to your taste buds.

At Shengxiu’s Door, there’s a certain allure in how time and culinary creativity blend. You never know what innovative dish you’ll get next. These creative offerings sometimes dazzle the eye and leave a lasting impression on us city travelers—that’s the charm.

[Banana Chocolate Cheese Bowl]

The chef’s latest creation, the “Banana Chocolate Cheese Bowl,” looks like a flaky soup at first glance, but no one knows what’s inside until you’re told how to eat it—and that explanation is genuinely surprising too.

%Start by breaking through the crispy outer layer to reveal the soft banana and chocolate filling inside. The sweet aroma of bananas mingles with the rich scent of chocolate, creating an inviting first impression.

%When you flip the bowl upside down, the banana chocolate filling and melted cheese cascade together into the plate. The fresh banana slices bring a soft, fragrant banana flavor, while the sweet, non-greasy chocolate sauce blends seamlessly with the fruit. And don’t forget the gooey mozzarella cheese waterfall—it adds a soft, velvety cheese aroma that perfectly complements the banana-chocolate duo.

[BBQ Drumsticks]

Before the main course arrives, start with the appetizer “BBQ Drumsticks”! These unmarinated chicken drumsticks are coated, deep-fried, and then sprinkled with a specially blended New Orleans spice mix. The crispy outside and tender inside gain an extra layer of exotic flavor thanks to the smoky BBQ sauce, which also stimulates your appetite with its slightly tangy aroma.

%Just pick up the drumstick, dip it in the BBQ sauce, and take a big bite. The crispy skin gives way to juicy meat, and the sauce clings perfectly—just dig in.

[Beef Garlic Cookie Rice]

Combining American beef with Taiwanese garlic, plus Taiwanese fragrant rice, this dish undoubtedly merges Taiwanese and American spirits and flavors, resulting in something that looks like Eastern-style rice but carries the concept of Western steakhouse dining.

%The prime-grade American wing steak is pan-seared and then stir-fried with a homemade sukiyaki sauce until it reaches a tender level of doneness. The garlic slices, made from extra-large locally grown Taiwanese garlic, are deep-fried to bring out an enticing garlicky aroma—but by the time it reaches your mouth, the pungent spiciness is gone.

[Peppercorn Pork Bone Wagyu Hotpot]

The most anticipated hot pot dish of winter, the restaurant centers its menu around a “peppercorn” theme with the launch of the “Peppercorn Pork Bone Wagyu Hotpot” and “Peppercorn Pork Bone Plum Pork Hotpot.” The ingredient platter features over 10 types of fresh vegetables instead of traditional hot pot ingredients, and the peppercorn pork bone broth emphasizes healthiness while also catering to young diners’ love for unique, enticing aromas.

%The platter includes colorful fresh vegetables arranged neatly, along with premium pork and beef slices, and Chinese herbal medicine pieces in the soup base. The broth is clear yet full of layered flavors.

%You can choose either wagyu beef slices or plum pork slices.

[179 Value Set]Chef’s soup + salad + cake + bread + any drink

If you’re just looking for a light meal, Shengxiu’s Door has also thoughtfully prepared the 179 Value Set, which includes handmade banana pound cake, handmade bread, chef’s soup, salad, and any drink (not just the usual free green or black tea), making the whole set feel even more worthwhile.

%The drink options are surprisingly refined—not your average free tea or coffee. The banana pound cake is rich and moist, while the bread is soft and fluffy. The soup is hearty and flavorful.

%Even if you’re not a fan of banana-flavored desserts, the banana pound cake here is worth trying. The bread offered is also not your ordinary sliced bread but rather a freshly baked, high-quality option.

%The salad is fresh and crisp, and the drink choices include both hot and cold options. The entire set is well-balanced in flavor and texture.

%The presentation and plating are also thoughtfully done. Every element of the set is carefully selected, showing the restaurant’s attention to detail.
