Long time no see—the delicious flavors of Xiangji City are back!

Xiangji City, once a shared memory for many born in the 1960s and 1970s, has reopened, beginning trial operations on August 6 in Tamsui’s Bali area. Now managed by the third generation of the founding family, it is the only direct-operated Xiangji City concept store in all of Taiwan, aiming to revive the delicious hand-held chicken from memories.

Founded in 1984, Xiangji City was known for allowing customers to wear plastic gloves and enjoy tender, juicy roast chicken by hand. At its peak, there were 126 branches across Taiwan. Later, due to the founder’s retirement, the business and franchise authorization were discontinued. Now, the third generation is taking over and plans to operate under a new-style direct-operated concept store.

The new Xiangji City not only retains the family’s secret roast chicken recipe but has also developed something previously unachievable—“roast chicken with chicken soup.” Using carefully selected free-range chicken, the goal is for everyone to eat healthily and with peace of mind. The direct-operated concept store began trial operations in Bali on August 6, with business hours from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on weekdays, and from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on weekends.
