Taiwan’s first open-top double-decker sightseeing bus connects popular Kaohsiung attractions

Taiwan’s first open-top double-decker sightseeing bus officially hits the road！The Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau and local bus operators have joined forces to introduce the open-top double-decker sightseeing bus to Kaohsiung. Designed with Kaohsiung’s climate in mind, the double-decker bus emphasizes safety and environmental protection, making it the first vehicle in Taiwan to meet Euro VI emission standards. It aims to offer travelers an enjoyable, advanced, and eco-friendly journey.

The sightseeing double-decker bus connects key attractions in Kaohsiung, including Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen, Dream Mall, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, and the National Science and Technology Museum. It also links with the MRT Red and Orange lines as well as light rail stations, becoming a new highlight of Taiwan’s transportation system and giving Asia New Bay Area a fresh look. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful cityscapes of Kaohsiung aboard the open-top double-decker bus.

The upper deck of the open-top double-decker sightseeing bus has 44 seats, including specially designed sofa seats, while the lower deck has 10 seats. The bus is also staffed with tour guides to provide commentary. Additionally, handheld audio guide devices are available to support foreign tourists. These devices come preloaded with attraction introductions and automatically play when arriving at each site. Currently, guides are available in English, Japanese, and Korean, with plans to expand to other languages in the future.

Moreover, the bus is a low-floor model with designated wheelchair areas, and is equipped with various advanced safety assistance systems, making it suitable for elderly passengers and people with disabilities.
