The Mid-Autumn Festival offers a four-day consecutive holiday. To accommodate passengers traveling home or for tourism, Taiwan High Speed Rail has announced September 14 (Wednesday) to 19 (Monday) as its peak travel period. It will operate 118 additional train services (62 southbound and 56 northbound), providing a total of 922 train services over six days. During this time, the “University Student Discount” and “Early-Bird Discount” will also remain in effect. Those planning to take the high-speed rail can start purchasing round-trip tickets for the Mid-Autumn holiday travel period from midnight on August 18 (Thursday).

THSR urges passengers that there will be large crowds during ticket purchasing and travel over the Mid-Autumn holiday period. Passengers are advised to reserve seats in advance and make use of over 10,000 convenience store partners nationwide, online booking systems, and the T Express mobile app to complete payment and pick up tickets ahead of time. This saves the precious time spent queuing at stations and allows you to enter the station and board the train with ease.

 
During the Mid-Autumn holiday, Taiwan High Speed Rail has designated 435 train services eligible for the “Early-Bird Discount,” accounting for over 47% of the total train services during the holiday travel period. In addition, to encourage passengers to plan their holidays early and avoid peak travel times when returning to their residences after the break, THSR has especially arranged 8 designated services on September 13 (Tuesday), the day before the peak period, and September 19 (Monday), the last day of the peak period. These services offer standard-class reserved seats with a full 65% discount under the early-bird promotion (see below for service details). Passengers who book their tickets between 5 and 28 days before the travel date may be eligible for early-bird discounts of 65%, 80%, or 90%.

During the Mid-Autumn holiday travel period, all THSR services will continue to provide 3 to 5 cars of non-reserved seating. Passengers holding periodic tickets, round-trip tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards (with auto top-up enabled) can directly tap in to use the non-reserved seating. The peak period also includes the “University Student Discount,” “Standard Carriage Cardholder Discount,” “Business Class Limited Upgrade,” and “Monday EasyDay” promotions. However, the “Off-Peak Weekday Discount,” “Groups of 25 or More,” and “School Excursion” promotions will not be available during this time.
