The launch of the JAL Doraemon livery plane offers an ultra-cute flying experience

Japan Airlines stated that using Doraemon as the theme character for this campaign aims to bridge the gap between Chinese consumers and Japan Airlines, and even Japan as a whole, thereby making the entire China route more vibrant. Additionally, Japan Airlines hopes to boost inbound passenger traffic during peak travel periods such as National Day and Chinese New Year by engaging with Chinese consumers through diverse interactions under this themed promotion.

The specially painted Doraemon plane made its maiden flight on September 22, entering routes such as Tokyo Narita–Shanghai Pudong. This is the first Doraemon special livery aircraft to operate on an international route, using a Boeing 767-300 model. The exterior fuselage features spray-painting technology that perfectly captures Doraemon’s “cute charm,” while the cabin will distribute special paper cups and original postcards featuring Doraemon designs. These special paper cups and original postcards are also available on other China routes (excluding Hong Kong) outside the Doraemon livery plane routes. The Doraemon special livery plane is expected to operate until March 2017, with related merchandise also being distributed on other domestic Chinese routes.

In late September 2016, Japan Airlines held a physical experience event in Shanghai, showcasing the new SKY WIDER economy class seats used on Shanghai routes and models of the livery plane. Attendees could not only experience the services of Chinese cabin crew and the feel of a real aircraft cabin but also receive Doraemon-themed souvenirs. Additionally, this event will be held in Beijing in October.
