Typhoon Meranti (No. 14, international name MERANTI) became a moderate typhoon in the afternoon of the 11th, and then intensified again into a severe typhoon in the afternoon of the 12th. The timing of the marine warning, originally scheduled for the night of the 12th to the early hours of the 13th, may now be issued as early as 23:30 on the evening of the 12th.

The center of Meranti is located at 18.3°N, 129.3°E, moving west-northwest at 22 km/h. The typhoon's central pressure is 925 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center at 51 m/s and maximum gusts at 63 m/s. The radius of the area with typhoon-force winds (7th level) is 200 km, and that with violent winds (10th level) is 80 km.
The typhoon’s path is leaning toward southern Taiwan, but its impact may extend to the entire island. Travelers and residents should pay close attention to the typhoon’s developments.
