Train service adjustments on Taiwan Railways due to Typhoon Meranti

Taiwan Railways train operation information in response to Typhoon Meranti – Update 1: All trains at all levels will operate normally before 24:00 on September 13. Train schedules may be adjusted at any time depending on wind and rain conditions to ensure passenger safety.

Train operation information as of 12:00 noon on September 14, 2016. Based on the 7th report of Typhoon No. 14 by the Central Weather Bureau, Taiwan Railways’ train operation plans are as follows:

1. The Eastern Line (Hualien = Taitung) and the South-Link Line (Taitung = Xinzuoying) will be suspended all day.

2. The Yilan and North-Link Lines will operate normally at all levels all day (between Shulin and Hualien).

3. The Western Line (between Keelung and Kaohsiung, including all branches) will operate normally at all levels before 12:00 noon.

4. The Pingtung Line (Kaohsiung = Fangliao) will operate flexibly depending on wind and rain conditions.

5. The Alishan Forest Railway will suspend all train services on September 14 and 15.

 

 

After the Central Weather Bureau issued the strong typhoon Meranti sea and land warning, Taiwan Railways upgraded its Level 2 emergency response team to Level 1, with personnel from various units taking turns to staff the emergency response center. Passengers traveling on Taiwan Railways during the Mid-Autumn holiday should pay attention to any changes in schedules. Taiwan Railways has enhanced the publication of train information at stations and on trains, and it can also be checked on the Taiwan Railways official website or via the service hotline.
