Kaohsiung Ruins Attraction "Anle Building" – Experience the Former Glory of a Grand Tavern

Another popular ruins spot in Kaohsiung has emerged. Located in Linyuan District, Kaohsiung, the Anle Building became an internet sensation after being featured in the TV drama "The Story of a Noble Family." Its unique ruins-style, hidden away in the alleys of the market, preserves the area’s rise and fall in prosperity. Many fans of the drama have flocked here as a pilgrimage, following in the footsteps of "The Story of a Noble Family" to experience the former grandeur of a large tavern.

The Anle Building was constructed during the mid-Japanese colonial period, when it served as a large restaurant. By the late Japanese colonial era, it was forcibly taken over and repurposed as a club for Japanese military officers. After 1959 (Republic of China Year 48), it was converted into a guesthouse where Taiwanese cuisine was served, live music (Nagashi) could be enjoyed, and it attracted many political and business celebrities at the time.

In the past, Linyuan was the commercial, political, and cultural hub of the surrounding areas. Now, times have changed and the bustle is gone, but the Anle Building has once again drawn crowds due to it being a filming location for "The Story of a Noble Family." Today, the Anle Building is weathered and overgrown, with old tree roots twisting through the structure. The second floor has been enclosed with sheet metal, and visitors are reminded to pay attention to their safety while exploring.
