Discover Tainan’s retro hangouts for literary youths through illustrations

To help visitors explore Tainan’s secondhand goods and unique museums, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau has launched two themed maps: “Tainan Nostalgia Treasure Hunt” and “Tainan Museum Journey.” These maps not only highlight retro vintage shops but also feature major museums, allowing travelers to experience Tainan’s rich cultural charm and discover new nostalgic spots for literary youths through the fold-out maps.

Wandering through Tainan, you’ll easily come across historic houses and old buildings in its alleys. Whether it’s the structures themselves or the ornate iron window grilles, all exude a retro vibe, instantly immersing you in the past. The “Nostalgia Treasure Hunt” fold-out map, illustrated by artist Da Yuren, features her favorite secondhand bookstores, furniture, and sundry shops across Greater Tainan. Through her lively illustrations, visitors can explore the rich collections of enthusiasts and uncover memories of bygone eras.

The “Tainan Museum Journey” covers attractions such as the Oyster Shell Kiln Cultural Park and Fort Zeelandia Museum in Anping District, the Tainan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Hall; the Taiwan Literature Museum, Lins Department Store, and Ye Shitao Literature Memorial Hall in West Central District; the Tuge Rural Art Gallery in Houpi District; the Chimei Museum and Shiguang Ren Tang Cultural and Creative Park in RenDe District; and the Nanying Astronomical Museum in Dainei District—perfect for family outings.
