November 12th falling on a Saturday means an extra day off—here’s why

Since the Executive Yuan announced on June 21, 2016, that the "proposal to cancel 7 national holidays for laborers" was invalid, the following holidays—National Father's Birthday on November 12th and Constitution Day on December 25th—just happened to fall on a Saturday and Sunday.

According to the Labor Standards Act, workers can still take an additional day off. Whether they can enjoy a three-day consecutive break depends on negotiations between employers and employees. Travel planners may want to confirm with their companies which day the compensatory leave will be granted, to better arrange and book trips and tickets.
