Just after the start of winter in 2016, the northeast monsoon arrived, and temperatures began to fall starting Tuesday. Northern Taiwan will still see daytime highs exceeding 25°C, but it will turn cold at night, with a temperature difference of around ten degrees—so warm clothing remains essential. Central and southern Taiwan will still experience highs of around 30°C, but nighttime warmth should also be noted.

With the arrival of the northeast monsoon, a frontal system has also moved in, bringing cloudy and rainy weather to northern Taiwan, Hualien-Taitung, and Kinmen-Matsu. Northern Taiwan’s lows could dip to 17–19°C, and this situation will last until Friday. In addition, air pollution remains severe. Areas such as [***], Mailiao, and Kinmen have recorded PM2.5 levels in the purple alert zone, staying at red warning levels. When going out, in addition to warm clothing and rain gear, air pollution should also be a concern.
