Disney’s brand-new Marvel-themed Iron Man Experience

The highly anticipated first Marvel-themed attraction in a Disney park, the “Iron Man Experience,” officially opened at Hong Kong Disneyland on January 11, 2017. For the first time, a Disney attraction features Hong Kong as its storyline setting. Guests will soar above the city skyline, team up with “Iron Man” to battle the evil Hydra organization, and enjoy an all-new, multi-sensory flying adventure experience.

Tech genius Tony Stark decides to establish the Asian headquarters of “Stark Industries” in Hong Kong and hosts the “Stark Expo” in the Tomorrowland area of Hong Kong Disneyland. The expo features several large exhibition halls, including the “Journey Hall,” “Defense Hall,” “Energy Hall,” and “Power Hall.” Visitors can be among the first to explore the most innovative technological inventions from “Stark Enterprises,” and after visiting the exhibition, they can board the latest technological marvel—the “Mark II” flight vehicle—to embark on the “Iron Man Experience.”

Conceived and developed over three years, the “Iron Man Experience” uses a flight simulator, 3D imagery, surround sound, and various special effects to make guests feel as though they are part of the epic battle between Marvel heroes and the Hydra organization. For the first time, a Disney attraction incorporates elements of Hong Kong. Guests can get an up-close view of the Hong Kong Stark Tower powered by the “Arc Reactor,” fly through areas resembling West Kowloon and downtown Hong Kong, and soar over iconic Hong Kong landmarks such as the Tsing Ma Bridge and Victoria Harbour.

A series of “Iron Man”-themed experiences will gradually roll out in Tomorrowland. The new themed shop, “Stark Expo Store,” has already opened, offering over 70 exclusive “Iron Man” merchandise items available only at Hong Kong Disneyland, as well as more than 250 Marvel-themed products.

From December 23, 2016, to January 8, 2017, the park offered an “Early Access to the Iron Man Experience,” giving guests the chance to be among the first to enjoy this new Marvel-themed adventure. Additionally, starting December 23, 2016, guests staying at either of the park’s two themed hotels will receive priority entry passes to the “Iron Man Experience.”
