A Sea of Blooming Happiness Welcomes Spring—Zhongzheng District’s West District Office Invites All to Enjoy the Flowers

The “2018 Welcome Flower Expo: Embrace a Season of Blooming Happiness” event in Xitun District, Taichung City, held its opening ceremony on the 20th at Guangxing Temple Plaza in Guangfu Village. The event featured exciting performances by the Taian Elementary School hand drum team, saxophone ensemble, and community groups. A dazzling parade of beautifully dressed “flower fairies” from the Fulian Community also captured the crowd’s attention. With music blending with floral scents, the quiet neighborhood was filled with joy.

Attendees at the flower-viewing event included Wang Ruiqing, Secretary-General of the Agriculture Bureau; Chen Zhongliang, Deputy Director of the Social Affairs Bureau; Legislator Chang Liao Wan-chien; City Councilors Yang Chengzhong, Chen Shuhua, and Huang Hsin-hui, among others. The Guangfu Community put great effort into creating this vibrant sea of flowers, marking the most beautiful prelude to the Taichung Flower Expo. The event also brought together around 300 citizens, councilors, legislators, Xitun District Chief He Guoyu, Association Chairman Liao Yuanxing, Village Chief Wu Dongcai, and councilor representatives, all of whom strolled together into the flower fields.

The Xitun District Office stated that the Guangfu Village’s Bajiaoli Flower Sea Festival has been independently organized for six years, receiving widespread acclaim. This year, in conjunction with the 2018 Taichung Flower Expo, the event has been expanded. In addition to the Bajiaoli landscape art flower fields, it incorporates unique community elements such as straw art and features organic produce grown by local small-scale farmers integrated into traditional cuisine—presenting a serene and idyllic pastoral scene. This allows more people to experience happiness through the blooming flowers.

To ensure citizens enjoy the most stunning views of the flower sea, the Guangfu Community, together with local temples and community partners, mobilized fully to carefully cultivate and maintain the flower seedlings and meticulously plan viewing routes. These include the Metasequoia Zone, the Love-Themed Garden, and the Vegetable and Fruit Area. The optimal viewing period is estimated to be from January 20, 2018, to February 15, 2018. With the flowering period being limited, citizens are encouraged to seize the opportunity and bring their families to enjoy the blossoms.
