Located in the northwest of Taiwan, the Matsu Archipelago is often perceived by most people as the frontline of coastal defense closest to the mainland. However, Matsu is actually an island rich in natural landscapes. Though each small island can be explored in just a few hours, it holds endless wonders within.

Beihai Tunnel
In 1968, as part of a strategic initiative known as the “Beihai Project,” numerous “underground docks” were excavated across the Matsu region to serve as berths for guerrilla boats. Today, after being decommissioned by the military, these sites have become unique “battlefield landscapes” in Matsu.

Indian Head Rock
Located just above the Dahan Outpost, on the coastal slope stands a rock formation resembling the side profile of an Native American’s head—some say it looks like Black Kong or a gorilla’s head.
