Strategically located in the northeast, the region boasts a long history and a rich blend of cultures from different ethnic groups and nations. Only by visiting in person can you experience the grandeur of its mountains and rivers and feel the boundless exotic charm.

The world-renowned Changbai Mountain in the northeast stretches between the northeast of China and North Korea. Li Bai described it in his poem: “Climbing the summit of Mount Taibai toward the west, I toiled up to its crest as the sun went down. I could almost reach out and touch the moon, and the mountains ahead seemed to vanish.” This depicts the precipitous and majestic presence of the mountain range. In addition to being celebrated by countless poets throughout history, Changbai Mountain is also a sacred mountain for the Manchu people. Within its unique living environment, the Manchu people developed their own distinct way of life, religious beliefs, and artistic culture, which have deeply influenced the history of the northeast. If you want to explore the northeast, there’s no better place to start than Changbai Mountain.
The beauty of Changbai Mountain changes with the seasons, exuding different enchanting vibes—the swaying shadows of the Beautiful Pine trees in the breeze; the Emerald Pool in the Birch Forest, like an unpolished jade, with fish swimming through its waters; the Changbai Mountain Waterfall cascading like pearls from the sky, splashing water tens of meters high and creating a spectacular misty scene with a thunderous roar. And the must-visit Heavenly Lake of Changbai Mountain is the largest volcanic crater lake in China and the source of the Songhua, Tumen, and Yalu Rivers. The lake is surrounded by peculiar rocks, and its color reflects the blue sky and sunlight, appearing exceptionally vibrant and beautiful.
Being at Changbai Mountain allows you to experience what Li Bai once saw and felt, as well as the spiritual influence the mountain had on the Manchu people. Time seems to stand still on Changbai Mountain, where the fusion of natural scenery and historical culture makes it a must-visit wonder of a lifetime.

Not far from Harbin lies the Volga Manor, covering an area of over 600,000 square meters. The entire manor is themed around Russian culture, with every corner showcasing an exotic atmosphere.
The St. Nicholas Church within the manor is a Russian Orthodox church, founded in 1899 and completed in 1900. Over a century, it has witnessed the vicissitudes of history. The Pushkin Salon, built in the late 19th-century Russian architectural style, features beautiful cruciform patterns made of earthen-red bricks covering its exterior. Its unique brickwork walls and striking color contrasts display a distinctive charm.

For those who want to see more Russian architecture, the Sophia Church in downtown Harbin is a must-visit. Its grandeur and exquisite carvings continue the Russian tradition, making it the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the Far East. Today, it also serves as the Harbin Architectural Art Gallery, a testament to the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures.

History enthusiasts will surely want to visit the Shenyang Imperial Palace and the former residence of Zhang Xueliang in the northeast. These historical buildings and relics offer a chance to reflect on the past. The foundation of the Shenyang Imperial Palace was laid by Nurhaci and Huang Taiji, the emperors of the Qing Dynasty before they entered the pass, and it includes over 80 structures such as the Imperial Ancestral Temple and various palatial buildings, showcasing the artistry of Manchu architecture.
In front of the palace gate lies Manchu Qing Street, where most of the buildings are constructed in the style of the Qing Dynasty, creating a lively street full of Qing-era charm. In addition to restaurants and daily necessities shops, the most popular spot is the “Antique City,” the best place to hunt for treasures and antiquities.
