This grand exhibition took 18 months of planning to connect the essence of past and present. With the national-level artwork — the “Twenty Views of the Western-style Buildings of the Old Summer Palace” copperplate prints, restored by the collotype technology team — serving as its DNA, professional animators and historical document researchers acted as genetic engineers. Using computer animation techniques, they meticulously reconstructed the Western-style buildings of the Old Summer Palace, which were lost in the flames of war.

Among them, the most iconic Western-style structure, the “Xie Qiqu,” is presented through 3D light sculpture projection animation, allowing viewers to feel its grandeur; while the 360-degree, no-blind-spot VR360 experience lets visitors feel as if they are right on the grounds of the Old Summer Palace 240 years ago.
