Yilan County’s Sanyi Township is a well-known hotspot for onion farmers, and recently another local attraction has sparked heated discussion—the children’s swimming pool at the township-run pool, which has been described as looking eerily like a tomb or cemetery. After being painted, it has gained some liveliness, diluting some of its “cemetery atmosphere.”

In response to such comments, Sanyi Township Mayor Huang Xiyong also admitted that it does bear some resemblance, but he believes this “oddity” has also become an unconventional form of marketing. Meanwhile, local residents have simply made good use of the facility, and they find the comparison of the children’s pool to a cemetery rather amusing.
